Larne Grammar School Celebrates Best Ever ‘A’ Level Results

Larne Grammar School was delighted to welcome pupils, parents and staff into the Assembly Hall on Results Day to celebrate their best ever ‘A’ Level results. The grades achieved by this year's cohort exceeded the best outcomes achieved in 2018.
The percentage of pupils achieving 3 A*-C grades, the Department of Education’s key measure of performance, was 89%, meaning the School will have performed well above the NI Grammar School Average. The percentages of pupils achieving 3 A*-A grades (25.3%) and 3 A*-B (68.1%) were also the best ever achieved by the School. 52% of all ‘A’ Level entries were graded at either A* or A and over 80% of entries (83.6%) were awarded A*, A or B grades.
Twenty-three Year 14 pupils gained at least 3 As. The highest achievers were Morgan Thomas, with an A*, two As and a B, and Ava Agnew, Molly Kidd, Cara Nelson, Sam O’Neill, Evie Stirling, Emily Thompson and Livia Whelan, each with 2 A*s and an A.

The AS results achieved by Year 13 pupils were also strong, with 80% of the cohort achieving 3 A-C grades. This performance bodes well for another excellent set of ‘A’ Level results in 2027. Six pupils - Beth Devaney, Kacey McGarel, Hannah Mellon, Sanal Parunthanplackal, Alex Rea and Hannah Reid - were awarded 4 A grades. A further eight students including Anastasia Bitianu, Zach Dunseath, Leah Graham, Oliver Lamont, Zach Martin, Ayinta Russell and Holly Wilson - achieved at least 3 As.

Commenting on these results, Mr Jonathan Wylie, Principal of Larne Grammar School said,
“To have achieved these record-breaking results is an outstanding achievement by all concerned. We are proud of our students and are delighted by their success. These results have not happened by accident. Instead, they are the product of dedication, hard work and talent on the part of the pupils and staff. I would also highlight the role that our parents have played in supporting their children through their fourteen years of school. I would like to wish our Year 14 students all the best as they leave us to commence university or their chosen career. I look forward to hearing of their future successes.”
